The Black Tech Initiative is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization committed to transforming the face of tech. We empower Black professionals, students, founders, and entrepreneurs through impactful events, innovative programs, and a deeply rooted community.

We believe in being different, in showing up as your full, authentic self — and creating space for others to do the same. At BTI, we challenge the status quo, embrace creativity, and lead with intention.

Whether it’s through our events, community-building, or programming, we take a holistic approach — blending culture, mental health, career development, and innovation to deliver experiences that speak to the whole person.

Born out of Queen City and Triangle Black Tech Events, BTI now bridges opportunity across the Southeast and beyond — amplifying Black voices, celebrating identity, and building an ecosystem where inclusion and innovation thrive.

OUR FRAMEWORK

We are rooted in impact, community, and culture. Our mission is to cultivate practical skills, provide real-world exposure, and generate measurable outcomes.

Through our flagship Career Shifter Program, we support individuals transitioning into tech from nontraditional paths — equipping them with mentorship, technical training, and direct access to job opportunities.

Our Founders Program is an ecosystem-building initiative designed to support Black tech entrepreneurs. We connect founders to resources, mentorship, capital pathways, and strategic networks — helping them grow sustainable, scalable businesses and thrive in the innovation economy.

By removing systemic barriers and building with intention, we’re creating a future where diversity powers innovation and where Black talent and leadership thrive.
